THE SOMERSET COUNTY COMMITTEE

The Somerset County Committee (SCC) has been running for three years and goes from strength to strength.  Each of the seven Somerset branches sends a Representative and an Alternate who are elected at their branch AGM.

SCC meets every six weeks, timed so that matters can be taken to the Regional Committee when appropriate.  An important part of every SCC meeting is the report each branch representative brings.  Membership figures are recorded and the total county membership placed in the context of regional and national totals.

To make sure that meetings and events do not clash, SCC has instituted a year calendar on which UKIP business meetings for the year are entered:  NEC, SWCC, SCC and branch meetings and events.  Any high profile national and regional events, such as Conference and big events in other South West counties, are also entered.

This aids organisation, too, as when extra help is needed there can be inter-branch co-operation, even though in this rural county travel between branches often means quite a long journey.

We have worked together on a UKIPSomerset garden party in the summer;  in September six of our branches sent parties to Ian Hamilton's garden party and five of our branches were able to send groups to the UKIP national Conference in Birmingham.

Our most recent joint effort is the production of this website, which we have been working on since July.  We aim to post updates regularly, and hope that people in Somerset will find the contents interesting.

Our next meeting is on Monday, 14th January 2013
